The church choir consists of a small but dedicated group of singers from churches in the deanery who sing mass at 11.30am at Epsom on the third and fifth Sundays of the month, at Leatherhead on the first Sunday and also for the major feasts of the church year in Epsom. The choir has been in existence for many years and we see our role as enhancing the liturgy and supporting the singing of the congregation at the 11.30am mass. We have a variety of music in our repertoire and sing mostly in parts (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass or Soprano, Alto , Men).
Aside, from our usual engagements we sing at Christmas in the Ashley Centre for the Epsom Medical Equipment Fund and have sung for deanery events in support of ordinations, weddings, funerals, carol concerts and Tsunami appeals !
We rehearse at St Joseph's every Friday and we have a break after Christmas and Easter and during the school summer holidays. We meet at 8.15pm to get music ready for the rehearsal so that we can start singing promptly at 8.30pm and we generally rehearse for an hour.
We are always keen to recruit new people and would welcome singers who are able to commit to attending rehearsals on a regular basis and can sing in tune – there is no requirement to read music.
If you would like to join our friendly group of singers, then please call Claire on 0208 393 6266.
